Trauma Therapy: Trauma Informed Healing

Here’s the good news: no matter what you may have gone through in the past You Can Heal!

What is trauma anyway?

Trauma is a word that is thrown around a lot in the therapy world. The best way I can describe it is that “trauma” is a big word for any experience that happened too much, too fast, or too soon for us to cope. These experiences cause a significant amount of stress which surpasses our ability to effectively process or integrate the emotions involved.

Traumatic experiences are anything you have been through that has not been fully processed. This means that the memory, the physical sensation, or the emotions associated with this event or experience stay with you after the actual even has past.

Our Body Remembers

When we experience a trauma or overwhelming experience our memories and emotional responses are stored not only within our mind, but also in our bodies and throughout the nervous system. These stored memories impact our response to the world around us and can trigger a sense of feeling unsafe, uncentered, and a lack of security.

Often when we experience painful moments in life, especially during early childhood, we can find it difficult to trust others, connect within relationships, and feel secure within ourselves.

Trauma does not look the same for each person. Trauma can present itself so differently depending on the experience. It’s not uncommon for clients not to realize the full impact of a traumatic experience until they begin therapy or start to process.

A Trauma Informed Way to Heal Your Past

My approach is always trauma informed, meaning I promote an environment of safety and empowerment that is responsive to the impact of trauma on my client’s lives. I understand the delicate nature of trauma work and emphasize physical, psychological, and emotional safety above all in every session and modality I use.

I am here as a guide, witness, and supporter in your own unique way of working through the past toward a life of connection.

My work is collaborative, experiential, and genuine and I meet my clients where they are while inviting them to communicate their needs through frequent check ins. I work from a relational attachment based lens and offer modalities such as IFS, EMDR, and Lifespan Integration to clients when I feel it would be beneficial to assist trauma healing.

Trauma informed and body based therapy such as AEDP, IFS, EMDR and Lifespan Integration can help to restore peace, hope, and healing from within. It’s important to remember in all of the types of therapy I offer that you are 100% in control and it is your own body that is doing the healing work.
